Patients pursuing cosmetic dentistry treatments need to make sure that their teeth not only look great, but feel strong and healthy as well. For this reason, it’s important to maintain a strong dental hygiene routine even while undergoing cosmetic treatment. Today we’re going to be talking about how to maintain a clean smile while using Invisalign. Our Glendale cosmetic dentists are answering your questions about Invisalign, read on to learn more…

Q: Can I still brush my teeth while using Invisalign?

A: Yes! Because Invisalign aligners are totally removable, you’ll take them out to clean your teeth in the morning and at night. You’ll be able to brush, floss, and use mouthwash as usual.

Q: How can I keep my breath fresh while I’m wearing aligners?

A: The first thing you should do is to make sure that you’re thoroughly cleaning your teeth at least twice a day. Don’t skip floss—you should be flossing at least once a day! To further freshen breath, rinse your aligners after every meal and clean them frequently. You can also brush your teeth and tongue after every meal to further freshen breath.

Q: Where should I put my Invisalign aligners when I’m not wearing them?
A: When you take your aligners out (to eat and to clean your teeth), put your aligners in their case—you’ll be given this small case when you receive your aligners. This will keep your aligners from being damaged or dirtied while they’re out. Rinse your aligners with water before your place them back in your mouth.

With a little care and diligence you can maintain a beautiful and clean smile throughout Invisalign treatment. To learn more about what it’s like to have Invisalign, give our Glendale cosmetic dentist office a call. We’re here to answer you questions and get you on your way to a stunning smile!
