Glendale Wisdom Teeth Dentists Put Patients At Ease

Written by Dr. McKay on May 19, 2015

Our Glendale dentists know that wisdom tooth extraction can be stressful at first for many dental patients. But we are here to make this extraction as stress-free and painless as possible.

When you come in to meet with our dental team, we’ll talk about your dental health history. This is going to help our dentists understand your dental fears and anxieties, and we’ll talk about strategies that have worked to keep you calm in the past.

Then we’ll talk about the pertinent details of the treatment. Many patients feel better when they know exactly what is going to happen in the dentist’s chair, as well as what purpose it serves. If, however, you think additional information generally makes you squeamish, just let us know! We want you to feel empowered and confident.

To deal with stress and discomfort during treatment, we offer a number of sedation and anesthetic options. We’ll talk about what type of pain-management treatment might be ideal for you based on your treatment history and the level of compaction of your wisdom teeth.

Some patients have wisdom teeth that are partially or fully erupted; these are very easy for our dental team to remove much as we would other teeth. Often, however, wisdom teeth are stuck in the jawbone tissue—these teeth are called compacted wisdom teeth. In order to get to these we will open the jawbone and extract the teeth. Generally patients need a little bit more time to recover from this type of extraction.

Our dental team is here to help and support you through every step of treatment. Please call our Glendale wisdom tooth dentists to schedule a consultation or to get some comprehensive answers to your questions about treatment. And remember, no matter what your treatment needs, we are your partners in dental care!
