Our Glendale Dentist Explains Some Of The Key Benefits Of CEREC Crowns

Written by Dr. McKay on Aug 8, 2023

When you’re dealing with dental damage, the last thing that you want to do is to have to wait for weeks or months to complete the treatment that you need. Our Glendale dentists understand this, which is why we’re so happy to provide CEREC same-day crowns for our patients. We’ve found that patients love the convenience of this treatment, as well as the exceptional quality that these crowns deliver.

Traditionally, if a patient needed to receive a crown, he or she needed to schedule multiple appointments in order to get it done. In the first appointment, the patient’s tooth is prepped, and an impression is taken of the dental surface. Then, this impression is sent to an off-site lab, where the actual restoration is made.

Once the restoration is crafted, it is sent back to the dentist’s office, and the patient comes back in for another appointment. At this point, the dentist checks the fit of the crown, and makes any revisions necessary. Finally, the dentist bonds the crown to the tooth.

CEREC technology simplifies this process and allows you to get the treatment you need in just one appointment!

Using CEREC, our dentist is able to design and craft your restoration right here in our office. So, when you come in, our team will prep your tooth and take an impression. Then this information is uploaded so that our CEREC machine can get to work milling your restoration. Finally, we dry-fit it, and bond it to your tooth—the entire treatment process is done in one day.

One of the things that patients love about CEREC is that it makes temporary crowns completely unnecessary. Usually, patients have to wear temporary crowns as they wait for their final crowns to be crafted off-site. The problem is that these temporary crowns are often ill-fitting and uncomfortable. With CEREC, you don’t need to bother with these temporary restorations at all.

Don’t let dental damage wreck your smile for the long term. Give our Glendale dentists a call to learn more about CEREC and restorative dentistry in general!
